Eagle Scout Beneficiary

Local Bleckley County High School student and Life Scout, Porter Arnold of BSA Troop 77, chooses Bleckley Memorial Hospital as his Eagle Scout Beneficiary!

Porter, the son of Joanna and Glen Arnold of Cochran, is on his way to achieving Eagle Scout status! In route to this accomplishment, Porter approached Bleckley Memorial Hospital regarding construction of a pavilion/gazebo onsite. Realizing that patients, employees and staff would benefit from the project, Bleckley Memorial was eager to accept the generous offer and was extremely appreciative of the consideration.

Service to others is an important part of the Scout Oath: …”to help other people at all time.” Each year, tens of thousands of young men strive to achieve the coveted Eagle Scout rank by applying character, citizenship and Scouting values in their daily lives. One of the rank requirements is to plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, school or community. Through this requirement, Scouts practice what they have learned and gain valuable project management and leadership experience.

Bleckley Memorial Hospital and Porter Arnold would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those listed below (including three generations of Arnolds!) who participated in this project. The pavilion/gazebo looks great and is a wonderful asset for the patients, employees and guests to enjoy for years to come.

Porter Arnold, Michael Willingham, William Sanders, Caleb Arnold, John Vincent, Joseph Arnold, Devin Vincent, Jo Anna and Glen Arnold, Ed Wallace, Parker Arnold, Carter Arnold, Chris Burke, Elder Sorensen, Elder Winter and Alvin and Grace Arnold.
